Programma
- Today you will depart for your trip to New York City. You will travel to the airport by yourself. The flight will take approximately 7.5 hours and you will arrive in the afternoon. After landing on American soil, you'll go through customs, collect your luggage and be greeted by a local guide. A coach bus will be waiting to take you to your hotel for check-in. Your hotel will be located in the Times Square area, so you will soon forget all about your jetlag with all the overwhelming lights, colors and large billboards around you. After these first impressions, a 3-course dinner will be ready for you in one of the many restaurants within walking distance of your hotel.
- After an extensive breakfast, you will set out with a Dutch or English speaking guide for a 4-hour bus and walking tour through Manhattan. You will pass through several neighborhoods such as Midtown, SoHo, the Meatpacking District and Chelsea. Your guide will provide you with interesting facts and fun tidbits about the history and appearance of the neighborhoods and its residents. SoHo is loved by celebrities for its luxurious brands and expensive shops, so keep your eyes open because who knows, you might bump into a famous singer or actress! You will also take a walk on The High Line, an industrial park on elevated train tracks. From here, you'll have a nice view of the surrounding neighborhoods. Lunch will take place near Rockefeller Center; a complex of several buildings where, in addition to offices, there are also shops and TV studios. In the afternoon you will go up on Top of the Rock here. This vantage point skyscraper is a must-visit when visiting New York. From here you can look out over all of Manhattan with a beautiful view of both the Empire State Building and Central Park. You can also see the One World Trade Center in the distance. A good place to take nice pictures. This evening you will also have dinner in a restaurant within walking distance of your hotel.
- Once again, your day starts with a delicious breakfast. A local coach will be waiting to take you to the southernmost point of Manhattan; Battery Park. From here you will take a boat trip to the well-known Statue of Liberty. You can walk around here and see the big statue up close. Afterwards, you will visit the nearby Ellis Island; the place where immigrants arrived at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century to start a new life in the U.S.A. On the island you can visit the immigration museum and look up your last name on the available computers. Who knows, you might find out that you have ancestors who entered the United States via Ellis Island. In the afternoon you will stay in the Battery Park area. After lunch, you will visit the impressive 9/11 Memorial and the 9/11 Museum. A devastating day in the history of New York and all Americans. After this day full of impressions you can relax in the evening during dinner in a typical American setting.
- This morning will start in an active way; accompanied by Dutch or English speaking guides, you will discover the well-known Central Park during a fun bike ride. The park consists of many attractions and special places such as Strawberry Fields (in memory of John Lennon), The Great Lawn (the large lawn where many different sports and concerts are held in the summer) and the Central Park Zoo, a zoo and petting zoo in one. After the bike tour, you can spend the rest of the afternoon at leisure. You can further explore the park yourself or go shopping in one of the many shops that the city has to offer.
- Unfortunately today is your last day in New York. After breakfast, you check out and put your luggage in the designated area. This morning you have the opportunity to stroll through Times Square one last time or buy a few more souvenirs. Before your trip ends, you'll enjoy an extensive lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, the coach will be waiting in front of your hotel to take you to the airport. The flight back to the Netherlands will take place during the night, so you will arrive on Dutch soil the next morning. With your arrival at the airport, your great trip to New York City will come to an end.
